Hi! This is Iago Hermo. I am the founder and director of the School of Pianists.
Once I finished my Bachelor’s in Piano Performance, I moved to the Netherlands to study a Master’s in Music Composition and pursue further training in conducting.
For the last few years, I’ve been teaching mainly in Amsterdam and online. Until summer 2022, I was also the Piano Teacher and Head of Education at the Historic Conservatory of Santiago de Compostela. Since 2023, I’ve been teaching here at Muziekcentrum Zuidoost!
My way of teaching changes a lot depending on the student’s interests and skills. That’s important to keep in mind! I’ve taught students with a “professional-goal” mindset who got accepted into the universities they wanted, but I’ve also spent countless hours making music games so my students could learn and improve their skills while having plenty of fun.
I give my lessons a humanist approach: we’ll learn about piano, about composition… but also about all other topics that might have an impact on our learning process (from music
theory to taking care of our health).
The lessons are available in English and Spanish. I’m hoping to add Dutch and Chinese to this list soon!
